About Michelle

Michelle Venter
BA (Hons), Lic.Ac, Dip Ped, MBAcC

My journey to acupuncture started when my career as a dance teacher and examiner for various dance exam boards was brought to a grinding halt after experiencing crippling health challenges.  I spent months being depleted with zero energy and constant pain, and nothing the Western medical world offered was helping me. Then I discovered acupuncture and suddenly the experience of living with a chronic condition was no longer daunting. In fact, the transformation was so profound that it catapulted me into deciding to train in acupuncture.  I wanted to help others who were struggling mentally, physically and emotionally, and let them experience the huge impact that acupuncture had, and still has, on my life.

After graduating from The Acupuncture Academy (TAA) and completing a three-year full-time degree level professional Licentiate qualification with distinction, I had the privilege of being invited to join a research team based at TAA.  The research focused on treating students who were struggling with mental health issues, the results of which were amazing and blew even us away. I was then invited to be part of the British Acupuncture Council Education Committee in 2020 that was reviewing the standards in acupuncture education.  In 2021 I joined TAA’s 3rd year clinical teaching team, which means that  now I not only get to treat patients but also get to work with students in sharing my knowledge and passion for acupuncture. In 2024, I commenced studying at Warwick University, embarking on a Part-time PhD where my focus will be on research acupuncture for trauma-related conditions.

I am a member of and insured by the British Acupuncture Council, which is a member of the Accredited Register scheme run by the Professional Standards Authority and backed by the government.
